Since July 2021, Outsource2Us has worked with Auswell Energy as their plugin marketing team, providing an extensive range of marketing activities including digital advertising, website management, content writing, search engine optimisation, social media management and e-mail marketing.
Over a 5month period, we actively worked on increasing the organic search rankings of 29 selected keywords – through both on-page and off-page SEO tactics and regular content writing. Working with their .com website, we saw an unusual minimal amount of movement in the keywords and started to delve deeper into what the issue was.
Our process began by discussing potential strategies that could be implemented to achieve the large keyword shifts we needed. We made the decision to move the website domain (auswellenenergy.com) from ‘.com’ to ‘.com.au’.
From an SEO perspective, when a website uses a .com domain, it competes on a global scale – often competing with the US or global based searches, before competing with the AU searches. Making the move to a .com.au website encourages the Google algorithms to swap this around: first completing for AU keywords, then worldwide.
The work involved with this domain move required our Website Developer to make the domain change in Web Host Manager and edit the DNS records as well as liaising with Auswell’s IT support company to ensure that emails moved across without any downtime. Once the site was migrated, our SEO team resubmitted information, so that the search engines were aware of this change.
The results, within only 4 weeks, were significant. The shift from auswellenergy.com to auswellenergy.com.au caused significant positive movement in the majority of selected keywords reported.
Auswell Energy has moved multiple pages for several geo-targeted keywords. The two largest shifts we saw were ‘Solar Batteries Gold Coast’ and ‘Brisbane Solar Installers’, which moved up 37 and 32 places respectively. Meaning that both keywords moved from beyond the fifth page on Google to page two.
Over the upcoming months, we forecasted Auswell’s SEO keywords balancing out after this initial peak. However, we still expected to see positive results.
