Starting a new internship is always difficult, you never know what to expect and there is always a slight nervousness about how you are going to fit in with the office culture. You wonder about what tasks you will be given, whether they will be degree relatable and what you are going to learn from this experience. The final internship of my degree was with Outsource2Us and going into it I felt all these things, here is my experience working as a marketing intern for Outsource2Us.
Starting my first day, I was excited, apprehensive but eager to get started and took the time to observe my surroundings. Very quickly I noticed the office relationships are all very easy going, and everyone is open and pleasant to talk to. I was able to comfortably ask for new tasks and feedback while having a laugh and joining in with social conversations. Straight away from that first day, I knew I was going to be fine; I was able to feel more comfortable within the office, was already improving on skills and learning new things. I was no longer worried about how my experience as a marketing intern for Outsource2Us was going to go.
One notable characteristic of my internship with Outsource2Us was that there was never an idle moment, and I was never just sitting around with nothing to do. Whether it was writing content for their various clients or putting together social media calendars for future months, I always had something to work on. For my internship for Media & Communications, one of my main objectives was to develop my writing skills and learn about SEOs; at the end of my time with Outsource2Us I feel I have definitely been able to notice significant progress within the areas I wanted to work on.
Throughout the weeks I was asked to discuss my objectives what I had worked on, what I needed to work on and was there anything I had not mentioned in my university set targets that I wanted to work on. I mentioned two different skills I wanted to develop that I had not mentioned previously in my interview nor my university application, Video editing and design work, Outsource2Us were incredibly accommodating and were able to provide tasks that ensured I gained some experience in these areas. Overall, I have had an exceedingly positive experience working as a marketing intern for Outsource2Us, and have come out of it with new skills, refinement of old skills, world knowledge and feeling more confident about my abilities as a practitioner.
